(Temecula, CA) – Retired Lieutenant General Herb Temple and Retired Major General John Bianchi have given their full support and endorsements to Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone for his campaign for California’s 28th State Senate District.
In making his endorsement of Jeff Stone, General Herb Temple made the following statement:
“Jeff Stone stands shoulder to shoulder with our military, our veterans and their families. He has single handedly worked to pass county-level legislation to recognize the service of our veterans on active duty and those serving in the Guard and Reserve. He has been a champion we can count on.
“Jeff Stone has fought to make sure our military personnel working at our local bases, readiness centers and armories won’t have their jobs wiped out by politicians in Washington, DC. He has opposed base closures, the downsizing of our military, and he has fought efforts to cut the pay and benefits of our military and veterans.”
General John Bianchi echoed the sentiments of General Temple by issuing the following statement:
“I know Jeff Stone will work in Sacramento to protect veterans and the military. When I was asked to take command of the California State Military Reserve, I wish I would have had advocates in the Legislature like Jeff Stone. He understands the importance of our military, and he realizes the importance of having a well-trained and respected Reserve.
“A lot of politicians talk about their support of our men and women in uniform, but Jeff Stone has proven his commitment to our military personnel by actions – not just words. He will be a strong voice for those who put their lives on the line every day to protect our freedom.”
When he received the news that General Temple and General Bianchi were supporting him for State Senate, Jeff Stone commented, “I am humbled that two heroes in our military have given their support to me. I am honored to have their endorsements, and I will work day and night to make sure the interests of our veterans and military personnel are protected.”
General Herb Temple was a career military officer who served as Chief of the National Guard Bureau and was a Military Assistant to Governor Ronald Reagan and later served as the Director of the California Office of Emergency Services.
General John Bianchi served as the commander of the California State Military Reserve after the 9/11 attacks, and he contributed greatly to the successful mobilization and deployment of troops to Afghanistan and Iraq.
The run-off election for the 28th Senate District will be held in conjunction with the California Statewide General election on November 4th. Jeff Stone was the top vote-getter during the June Primary election.
