Palm Springs, CA — Jeff Stone received a significant endorsement today from former Democratic State Senator Robert Presley, a leader in Riverside County for over a quarter of a century. The endorsement further solidifies Stone as the front-runner in SD 28.

“Jeff Stone is a trusted, experienced and very qualified leader who can work with both political parties,” said Presley. “Our state is being hurt by the extremists on both sides of the aisle, and Jeff is the right leader at the right time to make a positive difference in Sacramento.”

Presley served as a State Senator representing Riverside County from 1975 to 1994. A highly respected leader and expert on public safety matters, Presley had a reputation as a moderate Democrat who was able to work across the aisle.

“It is a great honor to have Bob Presley’s support,” said Jeff Stone. “Bob served in the Senate during an era when special interests had less influence and Republicans and Democrats were able to work together for the benefit of the state. That’s something we need to get back to in Sacramento.”

Robert Presley was the Riverside County Undersheriff for 12 years before his election to the California Senate in 1974. Presley worked with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department for 24 years. He was chairman of the California Youthful Offender Parole Board from 1995 to 1999, and served as Secretary of the California Youth and Adult Correctional Agency from 1999 to 2003. During World War II, he served in the United States Army. The Robert Presley Center for Crime and Justice Studies was established at the University of California Riverside in 1994.
